Most certainly! Arabic in the top 5 most spoken languages in the world! According to the CIA Fact Book, English and Arabic speakers make up 5.1% of the world. Which seems small, but that is a lot. According to Ethnologue.com, there are 315 Million speakers of Arabic and 378 Million speakers of English. Arabic is also the the language of the Quran. According to the CIA Fact Book, in year 2010, Muslims made up 23.2% of the world population. In 2015, so it appears, pewresearch.com said the number is “1.8 billion people, or 24% of the world’s population”. Tthat is a lot of people! Now, that does not mean they speak Arabic, but that does mean they are influenced by the Quran, and although I am not a Muslim, because of my experience with Muslims, Arabic, and Islam, the majority of Muslims, if not all of them, probably have some experience with Arabic. Arabic is one of the Languages of the “the six UN languages – Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, Russian, and Spanish (Castilian)”. Arabic is certainly an important language.
